We believe that our sustainability strategy should be fully integrated within our business. It is therefore necessary to ensure that all our employees live up to our commitments in this area, and indeed that our people policies are mutually reinforcing of these commitments.
Communication is one method of achieving this - indeed, good communication and transparency are integral to any credible sustainability strategy. An open, honest dialogue with our stakeholders is therefore an essential part of ensuring that every initiative achieves its target. Failure to do this, either internally or externally, reduces the effectiveness of any sustainability activity.
Leadership and example are equally important. We firmly believe that responsibility for the delivery of our sustainability strategy should rest with employees and that they should understand their own individual roles in delivering these responsibilities.
Underlying our approach to people are the mandatory requirements that dictate the legal minimum level of acceptable corporate behaviour, or business conduct. As a business, we pride ourselves in going well beyond these requirements and it is important that we continue to maintain a strong focus on complying with new legislation.
